Panama’s Public Holidays
I don’t need a holiday or a feast to feel grateful for my children, the sun, the moon, the roof over my head, music, and laughter, but I like to take this time to take the path of thanks less traveled. ~ Paula Poundstone
Panama seems to have a “holiday season” starting on the 1st of November and running through to Easter. While there may be a couple of extra holidays compared to other countries, generally speaking the reason the offices are closed is that employers tend to provide employees with the options of working overtime in the weeks leading up to a holiday weekend, so that they can have an extra day or so off. This is particularly common for Carnival, where Tuesday is a public holiday, but you find that most offices are closed Monday and Wednesday (or at least Wednesday morning) as well.
These are the official holidays in Panama, together with our comments regarding additional days which may be given off.
